Society and Social Behaviour

Abstract

Description

In physiology and sociology, social behaviour is behaviour directed towards society, or taking place between members of the same species. Behaviours such as predation which involves members of different species are not social. While many social behaviours are communication (i.e., they provoke a response or a change in behaviour without acting directly on the receiver), communication between members of different species is not social behaviour. Specific social behaviours include aggression, altruism, shyness and scapegoating.
