At the present stage of development of phraseology, interest has especially intensified in the development of theoretical directions and trends that make it possible to look with different eyes at the rich phraseological material accumulated over centuries and subject it to more careful comprehension and research. And above all, this is reflected in the boundaries of research, which are noticeably expanding, differentiating in the development of phraseology into a number of its individual subsystems.

<description>The relationship of American Slang with cognition / Актуальные научные исследования. Сборник статей III Международной научно-практической конференции, 5 декабря 2021

Slang is one of the most popular topics in modern linguistics (English and American). It is necessary to highlight that there are many opinions about slang in linguistics. Some of them consider it to be a strange unit in the language though others believe it to be inseparable part of the language. One point here, as noted by linguists at various levels, is that young people do not have the necessary literary vocabulary, and on the other hand, the vast majority of young people associate the usage of slang with the desire to diversify their speech. Besides, it is possible to express great, expressive and laconic ideas through slang.

When examining the linguistic literature, one can see that semantic assignment study and interpretation of lexical meaning is known to be one of the most important issues of stylistic semasiology and lexicography. Firstly, it is related to a fact that a word has a linguistic meaning, namely an object, its existence, its movement, its quality, its manifestation, its abstractness, but the question is somewhat different when it comes to the semantic structure of the word. The semantic structure of a word carries its lexical,&#13;
lexical-grammatical, metaphorical and contextual meanings, because each word can be used in a different semantics depending on what it uses and in what context the user uses it.

Sözün semantik quruluşuna leksik, leksik-qrammatik, metaforik, metonimik və kontekstual mənalar daxildir. Məlum məsələdir ki, hər bir sözün hansı mənada və hansı kontekstdə işlədilməsindən asılı olaraq müxtəlif semantikada işlənə bilər.
