This article analyzes the influence of the Richard-Ogden theory on modern semantic research. Particular attention is paid to the application of the theory in such fields as conceptual semantics, cognitive linguistics and discourse analysis. In particular, it is shown that language is not only a symbolic system, but also shapes the ways in which individuals and societies perceive the world.
